While we make every effort to preserve your privacy, we may need to disclose personal information when required by law to comply with judicial proceedings, a court order or legal process served on our website.
Privacy as a patient in psychotherapy is only broken under specific circumstances
1. I have reason to believe that you are at a high risk for suicide. I will share information as needed in order to protect you from suicide. This may include informing friends, family members and contacting the proper authorities. Information not directly connected with protecting someone from suicide will be excluded.
2. I have reason to believe that you are at a high risk for homicide. I will share information as needed in order to protect someone from homicide. This may include warning the intended victim and contacting the proper authorities.
3. If you report abuse of a person who is not able to defend themselves such as a child, elderly person or disabled person I will not be able to keep that information private. For ethical and legal reasons I must report abuse by calling the abuse hotline and providing the information necessary to initiate an investigation by the Department of Children and Families. I cannot guarantee the privacy of this information after I share it with the Department of Children and Families.
4. If you initiate legal action against Miguel Brown or Miami Teen Counseling LLC I will use all information available to me for legal defense purposes only.
